West Coast Delight – 5Days/4Nights
Day 01 – Kuala Lumpur to Malacca
Start tour with visit to Batu Caves before departing to Malacca. En route, visit a local Malay Village to observe the lifestyle of the locals. Check in at your hotel.
Afternoon, walking tour of Malacca begins at the town square with visit to the state assembly, Seri Melaka, the Japanese Clock, the Dutch City Hall, Portugese ruins and Malay Sultan Palace. Observe folk arts, traditions and museum. See local craftsmen at work, local trades, clan association in Chinatown, temples, mosque, the dearth, the religious and artists. Tour takes you through Herren St., Jongker St., Temple St., Chinatown and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. Overnight.
Day 02 – Malacca to Cameron Highlands
Breakfast. Depart Malacca and travel north to Cameron Highlands. Visit a bamboo basket-waving factory – a cottage industry complementing the farming industry on the highland. Vegetables are store in basket and transported to wholesale markets in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore daily.Check in at your hotel. Visit Boh Tea plantation and factory to view the process of making tea (close on Monday). Taste a cup of locally brew tea and enjoy the scenic view surrounding the tea plantation. Visit butterfly and insects farm, vegetables farm and a local market. Overnight.
Day 03 – Cameron Highlands to Penang
Breakfast. Descend Cameron Highlands and travel to Penang with tour en-route. Visit Ipoh, drive through Hugh Low St. and cross the Kinta River that divides the city into two sides – old town and new town. Old town located on the west bank is home to trading house, financial center, historical sites, neoclassical buildings and Little India. Famous landmarks include the railway station, Town Hall, St. Michael Institution and the Ipoh Padang. Walk through some of these sites and enjoy a glass of chill Ipoh white coffee. A short drive north of Ipoh is the royal town Kuala Kangsar – the first rubber tree in the country was plant here, Ubudiah Mosque and views the royal palace from the entrance. Travel further north and visit Taiping, a tin mining town during the colonial days. Visit Taiping Museum, the oldest in the country, drive through the scenic lake garden. Continue to Penang via the famous Penang Bridge. Overnight.
Day 04 – Penang
Breakfast. Walking tour of Georgetown, a Unesco heritage site, to learn about the setting and design of houses along the narrow streets guided by “feng Shui”, view neoclassical design frontage homes, Chinese clan association and local cottage industry such as making joss stick. Enjoy a cup of locally brew coffee at an old coffee shop. Visit Little India and the beautiful Khoo Kongsi Temple. Enjoy a trishaw ride to Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion– built by Cheong Fatt Tze, a hakka merchant who left China as a penniless teenager and established a vast financial empire in Esat Asia. This mansion was rescued from ruins in 1990, restored and won the Unesco Heritage conservation award in 2000. Overnight.
Day 05 – Depart Penang.
