SHORT TOUR

Tour BKI 03 – Kota Kinabalu City/Sea Gypsies (4 hours)

Kota Kinabalu is a modern rebuilt city after being destroyed during the Second World War. The tour starts with a visit to the Golden Honey Comb Dome Mosque, Chinese Temple, State Museum, home to artifacts that date back centuries ago, Filipino Markets for window-shopping. Then to the observation point at Signal Hill where you get a bird’s eye view of the sprawling city and of particular interest in the Yayasan Sabah building which is a 30 storey column-free glass structure, (the only one of its kind in Asia), proceed to Kampung Mengkabong, barely 30 minutes away from the city to visit the water village where the houses are built on stilts and are inhabited by the Bajau tribe who are often referred to as the sea gypsies.

 

Tour BKI 04 – Gaya and Sapi Island (daytrip with lunch)

Morning, depart Kota Kinabalu for Gaya Island by motorized longboat which takes about 20 minutes.  Trek along the well demarcated forest trails which snake through coastal vegetation, tropical dipterocarp rainforest and mangrove swamps.  Observe how the mangrove forest (the hideout for fidler crabs and mud skippers) withstand the sea-tides with their peculiar breathing roots which stick up from the mud during low tide, proceed to Sapi Island for lunch, swim or snorkel in the sea or just relax at the beach before returning to Kota Kinabalu.  (L)


Tour BKI 05 – Padas Whitewater Rafting (daytrip with lunch)

Depart on an hour drive towards the south to Beaufort. Browse around the town of Beaufort before boarding the train to Pangi. The railcar rattles past isolated hamlets and gardens worked by the Murut tribespeople as it follows the lower reaches of the Padas River.  Embark on a heart-pounding, unforgettable encounter with Padas River with its many rapids alternate with tranquil stretches surrounded by rainforest. It will take about 2 hours to raft down to the station where lunch awaits you. Wash and change to your dry clothes before returning to Kota Kinabalu.

NOTE: To bring swimming costume and a set of dry clothes.

 

Tour BKI 06 – Kiulu Whitewater Rafting (daytrip with lunch)

Drive 90 minutes to an exhilarating introduction to White Water rafting. Kiulu River is milder compare to Padas but it does offer some challenging rapids interspersed with deep, calming pools. Stop to enjoy a cool dip at one of these pools. It will take about 2 hours to raft down to the station where lunch awaits you. Wash and change to your dry clothes before returning to Kota Kinabalu.

Tour BKI 07 – Kinabalu Park (daytrip with lunch)

The journey to Kinabalu Park is a two hours drive passing through native villages with a stop at a suspension bridge and picturesque sceneries of the Crocker Range. Arrive at the park with its cool temperate climate and home to numerous species of interesting flora and fauna. Take guided nature trails with your guide. After lunch, view a video presentation of the park. Go on a guided walk to the mountain garden to see rare collection of mountain plants and flowers.

This famous park, lies 60km east of Kota Kinabalu, is one of the oldest national parks in Sabah.  Affectionately known as the “crown jewel of Sabah”, its most spectacular feature is Mount Kinabalu (4, 101 meters) – the highest mountain in South East Asia.  Mount Kinabalu, the sacred mountain and resting place of departed souls of the Kadazan / Dasun people, is still growing about half a centimeter annually.  It is split into two by the breathtaking Low’s Gully, more than 1.6km deep.  The mountain is also a wildlife and botanical paradise.  It is home to about 100 species of mammals, some 260 species of birds, 1,200 species of orchids, 60 species of oaks and 70 hestnuts, 80 species of fig trees and the Rafflesia the largest flower in the world.  Return to Kota Kinabalu via the same route.  (L)

Tour BKI 08 – Poring Hot Spring / Kinabalu Park  (daytrip with lunch)

The journey to Poring is about three hours drive passing through native villages with a stop at a suspension bridge and picturesque sceneries of the Crocker Range. Upon arrival, proceed for a canopy walk through nature trails of lowland forest. Observe wildlife and tropical rainforest from the canopy such as butterflies and birds. After lunch, view a video presentation of the park. Go on a guided walk to the mountain garden to see rare collection of mountain plants and flowers. Return to Kota Kinabalu in the late afternoon.

Tour BKI 09 – Poring Hot Spring / Kinabalu Park (2 days 1 night – fullboard)

Day 01 – The journey to Kinabalu Park is a two hours drive passing through native villages with a stop at a suspension bridge and picturesque sceneries of the Crocker Range. Arrive at the park with its cool temperate climate and home to numerous species of interesting flora and fauna. Walk on a guided nature trails with your guide. After lunch, view a video presentation of the park. Go on a guided walk to the mountain garden to see rare collection of mountain plants and flowers. Dinner. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

Day 02 – After breakfast, proceed to Poring Hot Spring for a canopy walk through nature trails of lowland forest. Observe wildlife and tropical rainforest from the canopy such as butterflies and birds. Lunch. Return to Kota Kinabalu in the late afternoon.

 

Tour BKI 10 – Mount Kinabalu Summit (2 days 1 night fullboard)

Day 01 – Morning, depart Kota Kinabalu for a 2 hours drive to Kinabalu National Park.  The journey passes through scattered native villages with a stop at a Suspension bridge, picturesque sceneries of the Crocker Range to arrive at the park with its cool temperate climate. Transfer to the Power Station (6,000ft) takes about 15 minutes. Start your 5 hours climb with guide to Laban Rata (11,000ft) with lunch en route, dinner and overnight stay at the resthouse.  (B,L,D)

Day 02 – At 03.00 hour ascending the mountain at this ghostly hour to reach the summit at (13,455ft) in time to catch the spectacular sight of the sun rising about the distant horizon, descend to Laban Rata for breakfast, then to Power Station and return to Kota Kinabalu after lunch.  (B,L)

NOTE:- Bring along good trekking shoes, raincoat,  sweater, torch light, insect repellent, waterproof gloves, sleeping bag, water bottle and high energy giving food.

 

Tour BKI 11 – Mount Kinabalu Summit (03 days 02 nights fullboard)

Day 01 – Morning, depart Kota Kinabalu for a 2 hours drive to Kinabalu National Park.  The journey passes through scattered native villages with a stop at a Suspension bridge, picturesque sceneries of the Crocker Range to arrive at the park with its cool temperate climate.  After lunch at the Park’s canteen, feel free to explore its immediate surrounding mountain garden and walk through the forest on one of the many forest trails.  Visit the exhibition center, dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.  (L,D)

Day 02            – After breakfast, transfer to the Power Station (6,000ft) by road which takes about 15 minutes to begin your 5 hours climb with guide to Laban Rata (11,000ft) with lunch en route, dinner and overnight stay at the resthouse.  (B,L,D)
